Castle Hill Community School – Cloud Migration

Challenge

Castle Hill Primary School, a substantial two-form entry institution, aimed to transition its operations to the cloud with the objective of eliminating dependence on local servers for routine activities. The school functioned within a dual environment, utilising both Google services and a Microsoft network. Principal challenges encompassed:

• Complete data migration from Google Cloud to Microsoft 365
• Enrolment of devices into the Microsoft 365 ecosystem
• Comprehensive site-wide upgrade to Windows 11
• Implementation of an extensive cloud-based backup solution
• Integration of existing school systems, including Papercut, Paxton, CPOMS, SIMS, and FMS
• Onboarding of all staff and students to ensure uninterrupted continuity of work in preparation for the school’s reopening

Solution

Primary Technologies partnered with Castle Hill Primary School to devise a comprehensive and strategic migration plan from Google to Office 365, accompanied by meticulous cost analysis. The process entailed systematic organisation and recommissioning of devices for Microsoft 365 enrolment, coordinated scheduling of the transition from Google, and managed collection of devices to guarantee that teaching staff were adequately equipped prior to the resumption of classes.

Furthermore, Primary Technologies oversaw the enhancement and upgrading of the school’s internet infrastructure, deploying an additional backup connection—supported by the WatchGuard Solution—to deliver advanced filtering and monitoring in accordance with DFE Standards.

During dedicated training sessions, the team outlined distinctions in system functionalities and facilitated staff onboarding for email, Papercut, and other resource access, thereby ensuring familiarity with new applications and document storage protocols.
